So I am on this Invisible Children kick, I guess. Sorry about the link to the video feed earlier that didn't work. If you check out www.invisiblechildren.com there is tons of stuff there. Tonight all around the world, but specifically in 136 cities around the US, there is a Global Night Commute, which is where thousands of people are chosing to sleep out, while traveling about 5 miles by foot to get to their city location, all to make a point about ending the horrific events that are happening in Uganda and Sudan, specifically with children. (woooh, sorry about the long run-on). The deal is that children for the past 20 years have been kidnapped by the LRA rebel leaders in these countries, abduct the kids, specifically at night, and force them into being child soldiers and taught to kill. The stories are horrific. There have been "safe houses" type of places that tens of 1,000's of children walk to every night... just to not fear abduction. Northern Uganda has been called the worst humarnitarian crisis in the world today because of lack of attention. An estimated 20-50,000 children have been abducted to fight as soldiers while 130 people die per day in Northern Uganda due to violence.
Anyways, you should look into it. If you know someone who owns the movie, you need to watch it. Oprah did a segment on them this last week. OK, I am done.

BFL,
We had a group of athlete missionaries that went to Africa with uganda as a stop using soccer for evangelism. They talked about these kids and were planning on seeing them. Once there, the area was too dangerous for them to travel to. at the last minute and guy had a little plane and took a handful of them up to the village. They started a soccer game and all these kids came out to play and see these white guys. They got to love on them, etc. but then had to leave mid-game because it was getting dark and it was super unsafe to even fly at night. This is such an awful crime against these kids. It's tough because you know God knows about this, but it continues and it's awful. These kids are forced into being soldiers by killing their parents the night they're abducted. Horrible. Thanks for letting us know more about this.
